WCR Sneak Preview

The Church on climate change

More and more Church leaders are speaking out on the need to address climate change as the UN Summit for Climate Change in Copenhagen next month draws near. This week’s WCR highlights recent statements from the Vatican, the Irish bishops and Caritas Internationalis.

At the Oct. 29 Nothing More Beautiful session, Edmonton teacher Lydia Cristini made an impact with her testimony on how God keeps shattering images that she has built of him. Cristini’s complete testimony is in the Nov. 16 WCR.

As well, reporter Ramon Gonzalez provides another feature in our ongoing series on the Year for Priests. He talks with Msgr. Frank Patsula, who has spent his 54 years of ministry in teaching, never serving as the pastor of a parish.

Other local stories highlight fundraising at Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples, a unique Ukrainian Catholic parish in Red Deer and a conference of Alberta francophone Catholics held in Calgary. Reporter Gonzalez also talks with Janet Klasson of Wainwright about private revelations that she has gathered into a new book.

Check it all out in the Nov. 16 WCR in your mailbox next week or at www.wcr.wb.ca beginning on Nov. 12.
